Dolphins

Let yourself be surprised by our amazing and friendly dolphins.

In the park, there are 11 friendly dolphins that will delight children and adults. Their intelligence and empathy will make your visit unforgettable. Besides, you will be able to check the skill of these animals when they are performing any exercise. You will also meet our friendly sea lions and seals.

The dolphins that you can see in Marineland belong to the species of bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus). They are very curious and active. It is the most common dolphin in dolphinariums due to its easy adaptation to life in captivity. Our dolphins have a very varied diet since they feed on a wide variety of fish, some species of cephalopods (squid and octopus) and, occasionally, crustaceans.

The relationship between dolphins and their caregivers is very special, the training is based on mutual trust. In captivity, training with dolphins is necessary to offer them physical and mental stimuli, since, when living in freedom, they spend a great deal of their energy hunting and chasing prey, as well as inventing strategies to find food and survive. In addition, trained medical behaviours facilitate the ability to control the health of animals (weight control, draw blood, etc …) and avoid any stress to the animal.

It is a pride for us to inform you that you will also meet, during your visit, our two beautiful dolphins Alpha and Romeo, which are 2 and 3 years old, respectively.

In Marineland, we contribute to the conservation of this animal species and to research to ensure its continuity.

Sea lions

Sea lions of the park are native to California, and they are very agile and playful species. They are mammals being adapted to aquatic life. In the park, we have 5 California sea lions (Zalophus californianus) about which you will know a lot through our exhibits. They usually feed on fish and cephalopods, but they also usually consume some crustaceans and mollusks. They can measure up to 2 meters in length and weigh more than 300 kilos. They are very social and intelligent animals, having a great capacity for training.

Seals

Being many times confused with sea lions, our four harbour seals (Phoca vitulina) are part of our marine mammals. They are native to the coasts of the northern hemisphere and will surprise you with their grey and brown spots. They usually feed on fish and cephalopods, but they also usually consume some crustaceans and mollusks. The health and well-being of our animals is the main concern of our caretakers who every day verify the state of the facilities and our animals. Also, diets are monitored by biologists and veterinarians of the park. During the visit, it is a must watching these incredible marine mammals.

The aim of Marineland Mallorca is that visitors do not neglect the opportunity to see all these amazing animals and try to help all those who, in general, are in danger of extinction.
